My mom has cancer.....
It's very devastating when we found out that my mom has cancer. She was complaining of a very terrible pain on her right hip, right leg and shoulders just last month in the middle part of July. We thought she has rheumatism because she's getting old, she's 67 now, so my sister referred her to a rheumatologist and the doctor gave her pain reliever medicines and calcium drug and order for a bone densitometry scan...and she's ask to have a follow-up check-up after two weeks. She then had a bone densitometry test in PHC. Her pain didn't go away and she can no longer walk and after a week I told her to see an orthopedic doctor and have a hip and leg x-ray so I made an appointment for her and she went to see the orthopedic doctor and she had an x-ray too. She lost a tremendous amount of weight and is very weak and can hardly eat. She went back to her rheumatologist and the doctor ordered an MRI of her pelvic area. She went to NKTI for an MRI and the impression written was an abnormal signals in the pelvic bones and sacral promontory are suggestive of a metastatic process from an unknown primary. Bone scan is suggested for further evaluation. When the rheumatologist saw the MRI she then referred my mom to an Oncologist. It was raining hard when my sisters and I accompanied my mom and dad to the Oncologist. We waited for her to arrive but she cannot make it due to the heavy rain and the reliever doctor decided to check and see my mom. She looked for a lump all over my mom's body but all she can find is the lump on her right leg. She then ordered for blood and other lab test, a biopsy of the said lump and a pet scan. We went back to NKTI for a blood and laboratory tests and we went to PHC for a biopsy and the doctors said she may have cancer. My mom is getting weak and has no appetite, so we decided to bring her to the hospital where she's scheduled for a Pet Scan. We are waiting to have the Pet scan and we will go back to her Oncologist. My mom was never confined in a hospital due to illness. She were hospitalized before when she gave birth to me and my three other sisters. She was a strong woman. She always go to a doctor for a check-up whenever she feels sick. I observed that she has a persistent dry cough for a year now but the doctors in Caritas never suspected anything because her blood and lab test were always normal and her chest x-ray was normal too, according to my mom. We have a history of cancer in the family. All four of her sisters died from cancer (breast, bone and ovary). We are praying and hoping she can survive this cancer. Please pray for her....We love her so much. She's a very kind and loving devoted Catholic mother. She loves her grandchildren so much.
